¿Qué? (What are palitos?) Palitos, or little sticks, are popsicle sticks that students can earn daily for speaking Spanish during class.
¿Por qué? (Why do we use them?) to enhance Spanish-speaking skills and build confidence using positive reinforcement
¿Qué? (What will we do with the palitos?) Students will be able to cash in their palitos for various prizes. Details will be discussed and determined in class. Additionally, students will earn a formative assessment grade each marking period based on how many palitos they earn.
¿Cómo? (How can I earn them?) You can earn a palito for speaking Spanish during class.
This can include:
¿Cuántos? (How many palitos can a student earn?) There is no limit. :)
¿Necesito hablar en oraciones completas? (Do I need to speak in complete sentences?) No! If you can, that's excellent, but you do not have to.
¿Puedo hacer errores? (Can I make mistakes?) YES! When it comes to palitos, Sr. Weiner likes mistakes. If you make the effort to speak in Spanish (and do not use English) and Sr. Weiner understands the gist of what you're trying to say, you will earn a palito. [We will continue to discuss strategies for doing this throughout the year.]
